Emily & Simon – Young Farmers Wedding

Emily & Simon’s wedding took place in August of 2017 in the sleepy village of Preston Bissett in Buckinghamshire.  I’d previously met Emily & Simon at Simon’s bother’s wedding a year earlier and they were both an absolute hoot to be around so I knew this wedding was going to be a cracker!  In fact – if you check out the pricing page you’ll see at the top of the page Emily catching the bouquet at that wedding – you see it’s true, catch the wedding bouquet and you’ll be next!  Emily & Simon had their wedding ceremony at St John the Baptist Church in the village. Straight after the ceremony their family and friends were treated to ice creams whilst they awaited transport to the reception.  The rest of the day was held at Emily’s parent’s home which was also in Preston Bissett where a marquee had been set up in the garden.  Guests could either take the short walk or arrive in style – on the back of a trailer pulled by bright red vintage tractors.

The summer of 2017 was a bit of a tricky one when it came to the weather.  I’d photographed a run of about 10 weddings where it had rained at least once during the proceedings.  Luckily on this day the rain stayed away and everyone was able to enjoy drinks in the garden ahead of the wedding breakfast.  An important guest at the wedding was a very new member to the family.  Pip the Dachshund, Emily & Simon’s dog who had literally joined the family just a week or so earlier, provided plenty of entertainment and kept the page boys out of mischieve!  Now 2017 was the year that I got into drinking gin in a big way – so imagine how excited I was to see a proper gin bar available to guests inside the marquee!  Wowzers, and lots of my favourite tipples there too… however I resisted the urge to partake in a drink or too in an effort to ensure photos remained in focus, creative, and kick ass!

As a side note, Emily & Simon’s wedding was a pretty significant milestone for me personally as it was the 200th wedding that I had photographed!  Here’s to another 200.
