Hannah & Vince’s wedding was my first at Lake Vyrnwy Hotel. It was also my very first wedding in Wales. Which seems crazy given that I’ve been photographing weddings now for well over 10 years. Straight after Kate & Scott’s wedding I drove from Oxfordshire to Powys in Wales, via Northampton to pick up Tina who would be joining me. It was a fairly long drive during which we even drove through a snow blizzard (in April!). Hannah & Vince had kindly booked us in to a lovely bed & breakfast a short drive from the wedding venue. Of course arriving after midnight meant we didn’t see any of the landscape as we drove into Wales or the immediate landscape of the location we were staying at. But once we’d had a good nights sleep and went down for our breakfast we were in awe of the beautiful views of the Lake Vyrnwy dam.
The Lake Vyrnwy reservoir and dam were built in the 1880s to supply Liverpool with fresh water. Our B&B was situated overlooking the magnificent dam. Amazing views to take in while eating our toast and cornflakes. It was also a great spot for photos. So along with a few scene setting shots we knew we’d be back later in the day with Hannah & Vince for some portraits.
I first met Hannah a number of years back when she was a bridesmaid at Danielle & Vito’s wedding. I was super happy when I received her email saying; “You photographed my best friends wedding back in 2016 and I always knew I’d love you to photograph my own wedding one day. 4 years later, I got the ring and here I am!”.
Alongside the photography, we filmed the day for Hannah & Vince. Both Tina and I photographed and filmed throughout the day, swapping who does what at different times. “We just wanted to say and enormous thank you for our wedding video. Honestly we could not have asked for more. Everything captured exceeded our expectations for the day and we are so over the moon and proud of it. I sobbed whilst re-living the day and it genuinely made me feel like we were doing it all over again. The editing is just incredible, the music, the readings and speeches as narrations.. just everything. It was amazing!! “

“We’re on our long drive home from our mini moon now and just wanted to drop you an email and say thank you so so much for Saturday! We had the best day and your presence was just perfect. The time down at the dam was so special and we both get fluttery butterflies when we think about it and we are so grateful to how comfortable you both made us feel. As you could tell, photographs aren’t mine or Vince’s forte but you guys just totally put us at ease.”
