When Tanya and Aaran emailed me to ask if I’d photograph their Kefalonia Wedding I was head over heals excited. When I initially met up with them to chat through their plans it was clear that this was going to be an awesome wedding. It did not disappoint. They even asked me to head over to Kefalonia a couple of days ahead of the wedding day to photograph a pre-wedding party which was to be attended by all their family and friends. That was one hell of a party!
Their wedding took place at the stunning village of Assos on the west coast of the island. The location is everything you imagine it would be for a Greek Island. A gorgeous 15th century chapel was the setting for the ceremony and for the drinks reception that immediately followed. After a few group photos and portraits Tanya & Aaran led their family and friends to Nefeli’s Taverna on the harbourside. Guests were treated to stunning views whilst the sun went down and enjoyed some fantastic food and entertainment.
After the wedding breakfast and some very emotional speeches it was time for everyone to let their hair down and party, aided by some traditional Greek dancing, plate smashing, and Thomas the DJ. The party a couple of nights earlier in the week was clearly just a timid prelude to some epic dance floor moves and also some epic drinking! I’ve pulled together a few of my favourite images from the day so you get a flavour of what happened. My eternal gratitude to Tanya and Aaran for asking me to document such a fabulous and memorable few days on a wonderful island and to their families and friends for being so welcoming. Its safe to say I fell in love with Kefalonia and hope to return again soon.
