Ash Barton Estate Wedding – Maria & Matthew

I took the trip down to North Devon to the Ash Barton Estate Wedding venue for Maria and Matthew’s wedding. It was my first wedding at the Ash Barton Estate and what a cracking gem of a venue it is.  You can basically hire the whole venue for 3 or 4 days and have the wedding as one big long celebration with your family and friends.  Set up a mini camp site of tents for a real festival vibe. You can have the ceremony in various different places around the grounds, whether you fancy an outdoor ceremony, or ceremony in the main house, or in the beautiful old chapel.  There is no curfew, so you can literally party the night away and stay up dancing and celebrating until the sunrise.  There is even an indoor heated swimming pool!

Maria and Matthew clearly chose this venue as they wanted total freedom for their wedding.  They had the ceremony in the old chapel which was mainly lit by candlelight.  A little tricky to photograph but I’m always up for a challenge!  For the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening partying guests were invited into the barn where there were more pea lights than I think I’ve ever seen in one location.

And how about this for a wedding breakfast…  Fish and chips with bread and butter and curry sauce! Just check out the picture below and tell me you’re not hungry after seeing that! Some fantastic speeches, both funny and emotional at times. Then for the evening it was a full on party. A first dance full of energy, and confetti canons, followed by a meticulously curated set of playlists compiled by Maria & Matthew.  No DJ, just a well thought out playlist which ensured the dance floor was always full! This was probably helped in part by the fact that Maria’s Uncle had throughout the day been plying guests with his special Vodka.  I reckon there were definitely a few sore heads the next morning!

There was a brief break from the dancing as everyone headed outside for a few fireworks and sparklers. Plus there was a photobooth, face painting and hair dying craziness! It was really hard to leave the party – and in fact I didn’t pack the cameras away until nearly midnight and the playlists were only half way through…!  Hope you enjoy looking through the few photos I’ve selected from Maria and Matthew’s day.

I absolutely loved shooting this Ash Barton Estate wedding and would love to be back there again some time soon.  If you’re planning your own wedding there (or anyway really) then please do get in touch and we can chat further about your plans.
